What is the ASAM Criteria®?
The ASAM Criteria defines the standards for conducting a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment to inform patient placement and treatment planning. These standards describe six dimensions that are assessed, including:
- Acute intoxication and/or withdrawal potential
- Biomedical conditions and complications
- Emotional, behavioural, and cognitive conditions and complications
- Readiness to change.
- Relapse, continued use, or continued problem potential
- Recovery/living environment.
The ASAM Criteria also provides standards for rating the client’s risks in each dimension and dimensional admission criteria for determining the least intensive, but safe level of care for meeting the patient’s individual treatment needs.

- The assessment cost will be fully refunded to your account after successful admission.

Medical Aid
We’ve partnered with nearly every major insurance provider to cover addiction treatment at Ocean Bay Recovery and make paying for rehab more affordable. Call us with a few details and we will be happy to assist.
Private Pay
Clients who do not have insurance or prefer not to use it can pay for rehab out of pocket. Our admissions team can negotiate a competitive price for private pay clients.
EFT & Credit Cards
Ocean Bay Recovery accepts cash and all major debit and credit cards when collecting private pay and insurance deductible payments.
Pick a Date
We understand how momentous your decision to seek help is. Due to our limited capacity of 10 beds, pre-approved residential patients will be assigned the first available date on a first come first served basis. We offer transport solutions and services to Ocean Bay Recovery should it be required.
What to bring
Attending rehab at an in-patient, residential facility means you will leave your typical surroundings and stay on-site for a period. While this level of treatment can be very effective and help you overcome your addiction, it also means bringing your key essentials with you that are in line with facility guidelines.
We’ve put together an approved packing list for Ocean Bay Recovery to ensure you bring all the items you’ll need with you and set you up for greater success during your treatment.
Additional Admission
Requirements
- Unfortunately, we are unable to admit anyone under the age of 18
- Primary diagnosis is substance use/ substance related problem or qualifying behavioural disorder
- Must be entering treatment voluntarily with a commitment to discovering a healthier lifestyle free from addiction
The length of our client’s prescribed program is formulated through ASAM Criterium assessment and according to the individual needs of our clients. We assess whether our clients are in crisis or are simply transiting from one facility to another.
