Some people thought I was crazy travelling thousands of miles to SA to leave him with strangers. I felt sick to the stomach in the run up. But, once at OBR, I just knew and felt instantly that you, collectively, really might just change his world.
You are a phenomenal organisation, made up of the kindest and most wonderful people. An organisation such as yours, is what it is due to the relationships and the people. The people who go above and beyond. It is the genuine compassion, time, care and investment you have in your clients and their lives that makes the difference you so evidently make.
Our whole lives have been blighted by addiction, as you know. However, I left Sam in your capable hands feeling, for the first time in many years, that he was safe. Unbelievable facility. Amazing therapy team. With it being so close to the ocean and nature giving me the ability to connect with the ocean and clear my mind every day. Peaceful and tranquility that I definitely needed, very greatful for my time and experience at Ocean Bay Recovery.
I was recommended OBR by a friend when I was coming out of a long, and abusive relationship. I felt like I had nowhere left to turn, and OBR agreed to let me join them as an outpatient for a week (due to family commitments I could not stay any longer). OBR was extremely accommodating and helpful during this time, although the reasons for me needing treatment were of a different nature to addiction specifically. The therapists, both inside and outside were absolutely incredible. Although it was intense, and sometimes extremely difficult, the experience was absolutely life changing for me. It gave me tools to deal with my situation going forward, and especially how to make better choices in the future. I also gained insight on past patterns, and my own self destructive behaviour. The facility is peaceful and discreet, and situated in incredible surroundings. The combined focus on intense therapy, with healthy physical activities, like yoga/pilates, and surfing is incredible. The morning swim on the beach every day is the best natural anti depressant! I am incredibly grateful to have spent the time I have at OBR and could not recommend it highly enough. I believe that regardless of the reasons for someone seeking treatment, the quality of therapy combined with the professional setup, is exceptional. I very much had my doubts when I entered Ocean Bay. These were quickly dispelled after only a few days. The staff, helpers and program were just what I needed from treatment to the holistic side.

I arrived at Ocean Bay with very little joy and hope for my future, my life was spiraling out of control and I simply could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Team OBR stuck with me even when I denied help and was rude towards them. They never gave up on me even when I gave up on myself. They respected my boundaries and emotions and let me take my time with things that needed slower changes. They never made me feel judged or less than. As I suspected would happen, the stress of yet another move exhausted me when I moved to St Francis Bay. Becoming free of nicotene exacerbated it and added a whole lot of frustration and aggression. Exhaustion is not good for my particular brand of mental health.
So - Last week, as a preventative measure to an all fall down, being an alcoholic in recovery too,, I checked into Ocean Bay Recovery.
What an incredibly good move that was. I slept for at least 10 hours every night on the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. I had my own bathroom- with a bath! The food was delicious and made with so much love. Every single person there from the cleaner, through to the nurses and volunteers, and the therapists were heaven sent. All of our activities were healthy, fun and rejuvinating.
I certainly got what I needed out of my stay, and would highly recommend Ocean Bay Recovery to anyone in need of Recovery from anything, whatever their ailment is.

I arrived at Ocean Bay Recovery in a bad way but will be leaving a new creation. After years of struggling with addiction, and multiple methods of treatment and trips to various rehab facilities, I’ve found the help I needed here. Situated in St Francis Bay, a short walk away from the beach, I’ve throughly enjoyed my experience with Ocean Bay. The therapeutic team is great and has helped me to tackle so many hurdles in my life that were keeping me stuck. Their methods of treatment were definitely not what I’ve been used to but they have done a world of good for me. I’ve achieved more here in three months than I have in years of therapy. The facilities are fantastic, with a home gym and pool, as well as other recreational facilities. Being treated to weekly outings was also great, and helped me to come alive again and find out who I really am. If I could, I’d give them six stars. If you’re looking to get sober and develop a new-found love for life, or have a loved one struggling with addiction, this is the place to be. I will forever recommend Ocean Bay and I am grateful for their help in changing my life.
Upon the recommendation of our 24-year-old son's psychologist, we turned to Ocean Bay Recovery Centre in St. Francis Bay after our son experienced a relapse following five years of sobriety. Less than five months ago I arrived at Ocean Bay unable to walk up the stairs to pack my bags because of how sick my body had become during my addiction.
